Hotel Katerina Sarayı

Katerina Sarayı was built by Dutch engineers for Tsar Nicholas II in Baltic architectural style during the Russian occupation of 1879. The building, used in the Republican period as a mansion, a hospital and a military unit building, was entirely emptied after 1980 and left to its fate until 2015. In 2015 it was restored by Kemal Erdoğdu and brought into the country's tourism as a specially certified boutique hotel.

The palace, built with a masonry stone system within a wooded park on the bank of the Kars stream, a branch of the Aras River, has 34 rooms. All the rooms have a panoramic nature view. The splendour of its exterior architecture has also been reflected in the interior using original wood. The ceiling height reaches up to 4 metres. In the wooded area around the palace there are birdhouses and animal shelters. The palace is a 5-minute drive from Kars Castle and the airport.
