Cephanelik Butik Otel

It lies 3 km from the centre of Trabzon, in the Cephanelik area of the Boztepe neighbourhood. The building is known by the names Fatih Tower or Irene Tower. Because the building has no inscription, its exact date of construction and the reason it was built are not known. It is said to have been built by the Empress Irene (1340-1341) as a meeting place for the Trabzon aristocracy. This building, whose pictures appear in the Sultan Abdülhamid albums in the İstanbul Library and which has survived to the present day, is thought to have been used as an arsenal in 1887. The building suffered great damage when the arsenal exploded on 9 July 1919. Our building, with a history of close to eight hundred years, has been restored faithful to the original. Its stone walls, which defy time, are entirely original and await you, its valued guests, in all their splendour and beauty.
